Whether you want to break a sweat first or jump straight to the tiles, this beginner-friendly session is designed to teach you the essentials of American Mahjong in a relaxed, welcoming environment. Grab a friend (or come solo and make new ones!), enjoy light refreshments, and get ready to learn the game taking social circles by storm.

Evening Schedule

• 4:30 – 5:30 PM | MOVE: Optional Pre-Game Fitness Class

  New to The Union? Kick off the evening with a complimentary class provided by The Union. Choose between a high-energy HYROX session or a flow-focused Power Yoga class.

• 5:30 – 6:00 PM | MINGLE: Refresh & Settle In

  Freshen up after class (or arrive early if you are not taking class), enjoy light refreshments, chat with fellow guests, and find your table before we begin.

• 6:00 – 8:00 PM | MAHJONG: Mahjong 101 with North Wind Mahj Society

  Hands-on instruction time! We’ll walk you step-by-step through the tiles, understanding the card, setup, and gameplay strategies. By the end of the night, you’ll be ready to play with confidence.

Good to Know

• Skill Level: Absolute beginners! No prior experience or knowledge of Mahjong is needed.

• Attire: If participating in the 4:30 PM fitness class, please wear comfortable workout attire. Feel free to bring a change of clothes to freshen up before Mahjong begins!

• Arrive Early: If taking the 4:30 PM fitness class, please arrive 10–15 minutes prior to class start time to check in and get set up.

• When: Saturday, August 22 | 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM (Arrive at least 15 minutes early to get your kiddos settled. Instruction starts at 10:00 AM)

• Additional Cost (as needed): $20 for child care, per child. No pre-registration or prepayment needed. Pay CoPlay Cove directly upon arrival.

Guided Play at Scout & Molly’s

North Wind Mahj Society is teaming up with Scout and Molly’s for a Mahjong Guided Play.

Guided play does not have any formal instruction. Prior mahjong play is required. We will be circulating to assist with strategy, hand selection, and decision-making.

• 5:30 – 6:00 PM: Check-in at the bar. Grab your pre-selected beverage and get settled.

• 6:00 – 6:30 PM: Mingle, Sip, and Snack. Enjoy appetizers and meet your fellow players.

• 6:30 – 8:30 PM: Guided Play begins. Start your games and we will help and answer any questions.
